The ABT XGT – Now available as a race car in the United States

Super sports cars are an exciting and highly emotional world of their own. Only racing cars can give you even more goose bumps. The limited to 99 units ABT XGT is a thoroughbred Audi R8 LMS GT2 vehicle that the DTM racing team and renowned vehicle tuner created as the most exclusive vehicle that has ever left the ABT factory in Kempten.

With its 640 hp 5.2-liter-V10 and 7-speed-S-tronic with rear wheel drive and a curb weight of 3086 lbs, the racing machine is aimed at sporty drivers and motorsport enthusiasts. While in some European countries the car was even homologated for road-use, the US at least can enjoy the entertaining nature of the XGT on racetracks across the country. Together with long-term ABT partner Chicago Performance the XGT is now available in the US for racetrack use, limited to ten units for North America, focusing on all drivers that love a rewarding and especially rare race car.

As a traditional racing team, ABT Sportsline has contested more than 300 races in the German Touring Car Masters (“DTM”) since the year 2000, achieved dozens of individual victories and over 250 podium finishes and is currently the most successful active DTM team. The best prerequisites for an ambitious project like the XGT. But it is more than just a project: "It was the challenge itself that spurred us on to work on this unique complete vehicle. The XGT is the quintessence of our heritage," explains Hans-Jürgen Abt with pride in his voice. Now 99 rolling chassis will be hand-built into one-offs according to customer specifications.

Anyone who has always dreamed of sitting behind the wheel of a real racing car will get their money's worth in the ABT XGT. Literally, because the XGT is steered with a unique wheel that offers real racing feel. For everyday usability, the fuel system from the street car was integrated, the instrument cluster was modified and the handbrake, central locking and even a reversing camera and immobilizer were added.

The control panel was upgraded by ABT as well and offers electrically adjustable exterior mirrors, air conditioning and indicators, while the special exhaust system fulfils Germany’s strict emission specifications. Of course, the focus was also on safety: a complete XGT vehicle was used in the demanding side and frontal crash tests, and all German government specifications regarding brakes and noise levels were met in extensive tests.

The ABT XGT offers a real race car scenario and has completed thousands of miles on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, the Sachsenring and the Hockenheimring to find the perfect setup. DTM driver Kelvin van der Linde, DTM driver and Scherer brand ambassador Ricardo Feller, ABT Motorsport Director and racing driver Martin Tomczyk and Scherer brand ambassador Frank Stippler served as development drivers. Thanks to the dual-adjustable suspension with modified springs, ambitious drivers can find their own perfect setup for every racetrack.

Customers can choose from four different color concepts; even individual solutions and variants are possible thanks to the handcrafted implementation. Theprice of the ABT XGT in the United States starts at 599,000 Euros. This includes the importation into North America ex-Chicago Performance and Tuning Co. Applicable sales tax and/or any additional transport needs are not included.
