ABT CUPRA ready for Formula E highlight on the streets of Monaco

When the start-finish straight is right next to your favorite sushi restaurant and the daily walk to school with the kids takes you through the famous swimming pool chicane: With its iconic sections, stunning scenery and the ultimate challenge of one of the tightest circuits around, Monaco is one of the most famous motorsport events in the world. On Saturday (27 April) ABT CUPRA will compete at the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in the principality.

The eighth round of the season is the home race for Lucas di Grassi, who has been living in Monaco with his wife and two children for more than ten years and has already competed there in various motorsport categories. He has already finished on the podium twice in Formula E. Nico Müller even celebrated a victory in another Formula category a good ten years ago. Formula E uses the same 3.337-kilometre circuit as Formula 1. The race starts on Saturday at 15:00 CEST and lasts 29 laps.

In between the sessions in Monaco, the team will take a look at Oschersleben from time to time: The DTM celebrates its season opener there on Saturday and Sunday, with Kelvin van der Linde and Ricardo Feller fighting for trophies for the first time this year. Both drivers will compete in the colors of new partner Red Bull in 2024. It is the 25th season for the team from Kempten, Germany, since joining the championship in 2000.

Media and guests in Monaco experience a premiere outside the paddock: ABT Sportsline presents its first electric boat in cooperation with Marian, the Austrian specialist for electric yachts: The luxurious ABT | Marian M 800-R delivers up to 450 kW, reaches a top speed of up to 85 km/h and impresses with its elegant design. The maritime masterpiece will be presented to the public for the first time on 26 April at 18:00 in Port Hercule, Pontoon F. Following the premiere, an ABT | Marian roadshow is planned for Lake Wolfgang, Lake Wörthersee, Lake Starnberg and Lake Garda.

Thomas Biermaier, ABT CEO and Team Principal:

“Points are our goal” “Monaco is a special place for every racing driver – this applies to the scenery as well as to the very special challenge of this circuit. From now on, our goal must be to score points in every race. We recently saw at Misano how this can be achieved with perfect teamwork on the track and in the garage.” Nico Müller, #51: “A highlight for every racer” “Racing on the streets of Monaco is a highlight for every racing driver. I’ve already had the pleasure of celebrating a victory on this special podium, so I always return with fond memories. It is clear that the race will be very different from last time due to the characteristics of the track. Fourth place in Misano, even if it was just missing the podium, was good for the whole team and for me – we want to continue.”

Lucas di Grassi, #11: “Hard work pays off”

“Monaco is my second home race this year after São Paulo – a special weekend with the family and lots of friends and partners. It’s always strange to drive the race car on roads that I normally drive with my family. We saw recently at Misano that the hard work of the whole team is starting to pay off. Our goal must be to score points in every race from now on.”
